Rare pink diamond, to be auctioned at $38 MM

GENEVA, Switzerland – The auctioneer Sotheby’s is set to auction the pink diamond which is rarely found in the world.

The said diamond was expected to be sold over $38 million and is set to be auctioned in Geneva, Switzerland next month.

According to Sotheby’s, the 24.78 carat Intense Pink Diamond was taken from a ring and a private collection.

This is one of the “world’s most desirable stones.” It was eventually seen 60 years ago when it was sold by a US legendary jeweler Harry Winston.

“During my 35-year career at Sotheby’s I have had the opportunity to examine many magnificent and rare gemstones and, put simply, this stone is one of the most desirable diamonds I have ever seen,” David Bennett said, chairman of Sotheby’s international jewellery department for Europe and the Middle East.

The said pink diamond is unique because of its color, purity and classic emerald cut.

“What makes it so immensely rare is the combination of its exceptional colour and purity with the classic emerald-cut – a style of cutting normally associated with white diamonds,” Bennett added.

Right now, according to Sotheby’s, the most saleable diamond are blue, pink and green.
